Board of Directors Candidates

As a member of Greater Nevada Credit Union, you are also an owner. That means, as a not-for-profit financial institution, we return earnings to you and your fellow members through better rates, fewer fees, free programs, and enhanced services. Member-owners can vote to determine who serves on the volunteer Board of Directors, which oversees the credit union. We appreciate your membership and the opportunity to help you Live Greater!

Voting Opens February 3, 2025, for the Board of Directors Election

GNCU’s Board of Directors is comprised of seven members who volunteer their time and experience to oversee the management of your credit union. Directors are elected to serve three-year terms, which expire on a rotating basis.

Ballot Process

GNCU has partnered with Survey & Ballot Systems (SBS) to securely administer and record all votes. Eligible voting members were emailed or mailed an official ballot:

Email Ballots

  • Members with a valid email address on file were emailed a ballot from SBS from noreply@directvote.net. If you did not receive an email directly to your inbox, please check your spam/junk folder.

Paper Ballots

  • Members without a valid email address on file or whose email address was undeliverable were mailed a paper ballot from SBS containing voting credentials and instructions.

Ballots are not available for download. For ballot support, please contact SBS directly by email at support@directvote.net or by phone at (952) 974-2339 (available Mon. – Fri., 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM PT, excluding holidays).

Ways to Vote

Below are more details for each way eligible members can vote. Please choose only one option to cast your vote.

You can vote via Digital Banking:

1. Log into your Digital Banking account.

2. Click Requests from the main menu and select Member Voting from the drop-down options.

3. Follow the instructions to submit your vote.

Voting through this option is available to members who received an email or paper ballot and must be completed by 11:59 PM PT on March 7, 2025.

You can vote online:

1. Visit the official 2025 GNCU Board of Directors election website at DirectVote.net/GNCU through your web browser.

2. Input both your election ID and passcode printed on the ballot you received to register.

3. Once registered, follow the instructions to submit your vote.

Voting through this option is available to members who received an email or paper ballot and must be completed by 11:59 PM PT on March 7, 2025.

You can vote by mail:

1. Fill out the ballot completely and sign your name.

2. Vote for no more than three candidates.

3. Seal your ballot to ensure the privacy of your vote.

4. Drop your sealed ballot in the enclosed return envelope in the U.S. mail. Please do not include account payments in the mailing envelope, as the ballots are being sent to a third party.

Voting through this option is only available to members who received a paper ballot. Mail-in ballots must be received no later than March 7, 2025. Please allow sufficient time for delivery.

After the Deadline to Vote via Digital Banking, Online, or Mail

If you are eligible to vote but missed the deadline through one of the options above, then you will have one more opportunity to cast your vote.

You can vote in person:

1. Visit the Carson City: Eagle Station branch from 3:00 – 4:00 PM PT on March 11, 2025.

2. Provide your GNCU member number to verify voting eligibility. Need a reminder of what your member number is? Click here to learn how you can find it.

This is the only location and time available for this option, and no appointment is necessary.

Your Board of Directors Candidates

This year we have three Director positions open, and GNCU is pleased to announce the five candidates who are seeking to fill those seats.

Bill Arensdorf

Bill Arensdorf (Incumbent)

Member: 52 years

Residence: Carson City

Occupation: Retired Director, Office of Fiscal Accountability, State of Nevada Education Department

Education: B.A. Degree and Masters in Administration at Loras College and Masters in Education at Clarke University

Statement: Celebrating Greater Nevada’s 75th Anniversary, the Board and myself as Chairman, and employees, will continue our high level of service in branches and online for our 89,000 members. Competing with other financial services, Greater Nevada has met and exceeded interest levels paid to members and provided home and consumer loans at competitive rates. As of mid-year, we have paid members dividends of $2,396,000 on share, Aspire checking and certificates of deposit. Greater Nevada offers all of the financial products other’s provide. I am committed to continuing our Nevada based “Best Financial Institution” in safe and sound financial condition.

Barbara Byington

Barbara Byington (Incumbent)

Member: 39 years

Residence: Minden

Occupation: Retired Douglas County Assessor, Owner/Operator Family Cattle Ranch

Education: B.S. Degree, Mathematics, University of Nevada, Reno

Statement: I would like to continue serving on the Greater Nevada Credit Union Board representing our many good members as I have in the past. I have enjoyed working for the members and feel that I have a good rapport with the fellow members and staff. We wish all our members could Live Greater.

Paul Richey

Paul Richey (Incumbent)

Member: 45 years

Residence: Carson City

Occupation: Retired Controller Emeritus, Western Nevada College

Education: B.S. Degree and Masters of Science, San Diego State University

Statement: As a current director and past Chairman of the GNCU Board, I am committed to maintaining the highest standards for value and service to members. I chose to open my account many years ago because GNCU was the best option available. Today, my guiding principle as a director is to maintain GNCU as the best option for value and service. As we move forward, the Board will have to sort out the directions that will be most advantageous for all members. I want to use my experience on this Board to contribute to the continued success of our credit union.

Johnathan Marshall

Residence: Reno

Occupation: Founder and President, Marshall Medical Billing and Marshall EMS Billing

Education: B.S. Degree, Business Administration/Management and Finance, University of Las Vegas and Masters of Business Administration-Healthcare, George Washington University

Statement: I love being from Nevada and want to help its citizens and businesses achieve their goals. My goal is to work with GNCU Board members and empower GNCU leaders in positive and productive ways to continue excellence and growth for the long term. Throughout my career of entrepreneurship and executive leadership, I have dedicated myself to learning, growing, and helping others do the same. I have demonstrated strengths in leadership, financial management, business development, organizational behavior, negotiations, and creating culture. Connecting with people, giving back, and helping others all give me great joy. Thank you for your consideration.

Adrienne Wilkerson

Residence: Reno

Occupation: Co-Founder and CEO of Beacon Media + Marketing

Education: Diplomatic and International Relations, University of The Nations, Kona, HI and Business Communications at the University of Alaska Anchorage

Statement: As the CEO of a digital marketing agency, I bring a wealth of expertise in strategic planning, brand development, and customer engagement to the credit union board. I can offer valuable insights on leveraging digital marketing tools, data analytics, and emerging trends to drive growth and enhance member experience. With a proven track record of delivering results and fostering innovation, I am committed to collaborating with fellow board members to identify opportunities for differentiation, optimize marketing strategies, and strengthen the credit union’s market position. Together, we can navigate the evolving landscape of financial services and drive sustainable success.
