Greater Nevada Credit Union (GNCU) is excited to announce its support of Eddy House‘s transformative High School Outreach Program through a $100,000 grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) of San Francisco’s AHEAD Program. This initiative empowers Eddy House to extend its critical services to at-risk and homeless youth in Northern Nevada, addressing their needs directly on high school campuses.

About the Program

Eddy House’s High School Outreach Program, featuring their mobile drop-in center, The Eddy House Hangout, is designed to reach students before they turn 18 and potentially enter the shelter system. By visiting high schools across the valley, the program provides vital resources, including school supplies, hygiene items, and support services, in a stigma-free environment.

Trevor Macaluso, Chief Executive Officer of Eddy House, highlighted the importance of the initiative:

“We’ve seen that 40 percent of our new youth at Eddy House are expressing to us their needs. That they were in a home situation before the age of 18. So thanks to our great partnerships with the school district and North Valleys High School and of course, Grand Nevada Credit Union, who has arranged a $100,000 donation through the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco. We’ve been able to make this program possible.”

GNCU’s Commitment to the Community

As a longtime supporter of community-based initiatives, GNCU is proud to partner with Eddy House on this impactful project. By sponsoring the AHEAD grant application, GNCU continues its mission of creating Greater Opportunities for individuals and organizations in Northern Nevada.

The Award

The $100,000 AHEAD grant will enable Eddy House to:

  • Expand Outreach: Launch mobile services that connect students with resources before they face homelessness.
  • Support Workforce Development: Provide opportunities and guidance for academic and career success.
  • Enhance Resources: Fund both programming and the outreach vehicle that serves as the cornerstone of this initiative.

Celebrating the Launch

The launch event at North Valleys High School brought together partners, students, and community leaders to celebrate the program’s start. The energy and excitement highlighted the collaboration between Eddy House, GNCU, and FHLB of San Francisco in addressing critical needs within the community.
