All About High-Yield Checking
High-yield checking accounts are exactly what they sound like: checking accounts that allow you to continually access your money while earning a higher-than-average return. Our Aspire Checking account offers an incredible yield on a very high qualifying balance cap, plus other Greater benefits that make it one of the best checking accounts available not only in Nevada, but the entire nation!
4.00% APY & ATM Fee Refunds
Meet the monthly qualifications to earn 4.00% APY on qualifying balances up to $50,000 (one of the highest credit union checking interest rates around, beating most savings account yields), and earn up to $15 in out-of-network ATM fee refunds.
No Minimum Balance
No need to maintain a minimum balance in any of our checking accounts (but we recommend keeping a healthy amount in yours anyway).
Every Card Purchase Counts
Unlike elsewhere, both PIN (debit) and signature (credit) purchases with your debit card qualify towards the monthly qualifications.
Safe & Secure Digital Banking
We understand that you don’t always want to make a trip to a branch. That’s why we made banking online and through our mobile app easy to use so you can bank anytime, anywhere you’d like.
Nationwide ATM Access
We partner with other credit unions and ATM providers to extend your access to offer fee-free transactions at over 30,000 ATMs across the U.S. through the CO-OP Shared ATM network.
Always on Patrol
Rest easy knowing we actively monitor all member accounts for fraud with help from Falcon Fraud and other cutting edge tools. Your GNCU Visa debit card also includes coverage by Visa’s Zero Liability Policy2, and you can enjoy complete control over your card through our GNCU Cards app.

Qualify for Earnings and Waive the Monthly Service Charge
Qualifying for the rewards and having the monthly service charge waived is easy. Simply do the following during each monthly qualification cycle:
- Have at least nine debit card purchases post and clear;
- Have at least one direct deposit post and clear; and
- Be enrolled to receive online eStatements.
If you don’t meet the requirements during one monthly qualification cycle, no earnings will be rewarded and the service charge will apply. But don’t worry! You can get back to earning the rewards the very next monthly qualification cycle.
Start your journey toward earning more on your checking account activities by opening yours online or at your local branch–or use our handy comparison chart to find another checking account that offers the advantages you need.
1APY (Annual Percentage Yield) effective January 1, 2023, and subject to change without notice. Aspire Checking accounts earn 4.00% APY on qualifying balances up to $50,000. Rate tiers are as follows: 4.00% APY applies to balances of $0.01 – $50,000.00 and 0.05% APY applies to balances over $50,000.00 if qualifications are met during the monthly qualification cycle. 0.05% APY applies to all balances if monthly qualifications are not met. Dividends will be credited to your account and compounded every month. Other rewards received when monthly qualifications are met include up to $15 in out-of-network ATM fee rebates and waiver of the $15 monthly service fee. Proof of ATM fees of $5 or more may be required to process fee rebate. For rebates of individual ATM fees of $5 or more, please visit a GNCU branch or call the Member Resource Center at (800) 421-6674. Monthly qualifications are 9 debit card purchases must post and clear, one direct deposit received, and account statements delivered via eStatements. “Qualification Cycle” means a period beginning one day prior to the first of the month and ending one day prior to the last day of the month (ex. July 31 – August 30 for August statement). Transactions may take one or more business days from the transaction date to post to an account from the date the transaction is made. Fees could reduce the earnings on the account. Membership requirements apply. Available to personal accounts only.
2 Visa’s Zero Liability Policy does not apply to certain commercial card and anonymous prepaid card transactions or transactions not processed by Visa. Cardholders must use care in protecting their card and notify their issuing financial institution immediately of any unauthorized use. Contact GNCU for more detail.
